MP Malette welcomes resolution to County Road 49 rehabilitation

Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette is pleased to hear Thursday's announcement by the Government of Ontario to fund the long-awaited reconstruction of County Road 49.

County Road 49 is more than a roadway—it is a vital gateway into Prince Edward County for residents, businesses and the many visitors who support our local economy. Rehabilitating this corridor will help protect and strengthen key economic drivers in our region, including industry, agriculture and tourism.

This investment reflects years of persistent advocacy. I want to commend Mayor Steve Ferguson, members of Council—past and present—and County residents for their continued efforts in bringing this project forward and ensuring it remained a priority across all levels of government.

I was proud to help facilitate a meeting between Mayor Ferguson, CAO Adam Goheen and senior officials with Transport Canada to advance this important project and ensure it remained a priority.

Today’s announcement is a significant step forward for the County, and I look forward to seeing this project move ahead.
